About Us

Our Beginnings

We are Tony and Nikki Whitehead and what started as our first placement of a medically fragile child, who was placed with the end goal of adoption, ended prematurely with a funeral and many broken hearts. The impact that Mari had on our family is difficult to put into words. She was our daughter and we expected to have many many more years together. After she passed away, we realized the gigantic effect that her life, her smile and her amazing energy had on everyone around us. She was larger than life and her legacy should be as well. Mari’s Mission is our family’s way of honoring her precious life and improving the life of kids in care.
